The Pine Tree Day Care Center located on the outskirts of Boulder, Colorado runs all day and after school care for kids aged up to 12. It is also where Mork finally finds a job that he both enjoys and can hold onto, working there from the end of season 2 until the start of season 4, and Mearth's arrival.
Location[]
The Pine Tree Day Care Center is located at 1518 Spruce St, Boulder, CO 80302 across the road from Wheels Roller Rink.
Run By/Managed/Owned[]
The Center is leased from local land magnate Paul Simpson, who owns half of Boulder, and is run by Mrs Fowler.
About[]
Mork starts work there (Looney Tunes and Morkie Melodies) as a group leader for Mrs Thompson's class in the Day Care Center towards the end of his second year on Earth, finally finding himself a place he really enjoys being, Mindy pointing out she can't think of a better job for him. And it is clear to see why, as Mork relates to the kids as equals, seeking their advice and opinions as well as entertaining them. Early on he enlists their help with Nelson's early morning campaign speech which they turn into a variety show, the kids acting as a sounding board and an audience.
Entrusted to a younger group under Mrs Fowlers management, he seeks their help again when he is afflicted by Observers Syndrome and loses his Orkan-ness, trying to pick their brains as to what he was like before he became so button down. But their youth makes it difficult, even for the brilliant Lola to recall much to help him. (Putting the Ork Back in Mork, Part 1)
The Center comes under threat of closure, when Mrs Fowler informs Mork and Mindy, that the rich landlord Paul Simpson threatens to close the place to give his Roller Skating obsessed son, Wheels, the land to create a parking lot for Wheels Roller Rink. It's not something he's keen to do, but the Rink is the only thing his son has ever taken seriously and he wants to ensure he's a success at something. Mork goes to bat for the Center and the kids, and takes Wheels on in a Rocky Mountain Road Race. Which, despite Wheel's cheating he manages to win, saving the Center. (Dueling Skates)
He later introduces kids to his personal hero, Squellman the Yellow, and his pacifist ways, but runs into trouble with one kid, Billy, who has no time for pacifism or his doctor father who he's been forced to dress up as on Mork's come as your hero day. (Gunfight at the Mork-Kay Corral).
