After their freezing encounter on their first vacation to Exidor's Cabin (Skyflakes Keep Falling On My Head) in the summer following, Mindy takes Mork on a warm weather vacation, packing the jeep to head south on the 7 hour drive to New Mexico to the Ranch.
Mork, the worse for wear
While it's definitely warm, neither the horses nor the environment suit Mork at all. After getting badly sunburned (worse than when he actually took a walk on a sun), and being terrified by scorpions. Mindy takes him on a horse ride, where unfortunately he falls off, and is dragged for a couple of miles (refusing to let go at the price per hour that is charged for riding), unfortunately through a cactus patch.
Ricky Day tries to entice Mindy & Mork into more activities.
Battered, bruised, punctured and burned, Mindy is mystified at how it's gone for him, feeling badly, when the couple are visited by Ricky Day, the Western styled activity director at the Hacienda. Immensely stiff and sore, Mork listens as Ricky outlines activities through the rest of the day, shuffleboard, long hikes out into the desert, making lanyards. Mork is willing to persevere for Mindy's sake, but Mindy, underwhelmed herself, and seeing Mork's reaction, tells him while they sound great, she and Mork would like to rest, and immediately regrets saying it as Ricky gets the wrong idea, smirking at them. Mork regretting it even more when Ricky slaps him on his sunburned back telling him to enjoy his 'rest'. After he leaves, Mork tries to be a good sport and offers to shuffle boards with her, make ashtrays, but she asks him what he wants to do, and he confesses, to go home. Smiling she tells him she thought he'd never ask.
Mork officially labelling the vacation 'Gopher Gunk' he later upgrades the experience after concluding that being on any Vacation with Mindy, is better than being on a fabulous vacation without her.
