Steve Kreinberg, (April 23, 1946 - March 30, 2020) was a writer and producer who co-created the Fox comedy Herman's Head who with his writing partner Andrew Guerdat worked as a writer on Mork & Mindy through Season 2 and 3, writing 3 episodes.
Biography[]
Stephen Neil Kreinberg was born on April 23, 1946. His father being Herman Kreinberg. He grew up in Miami Beach, then earned a degree in photography from the University of Florida and a master's from Syracuse University's Newhouse School of Public Communications. During graduate school, he freelanced as a movie critic for the Syracuse New Times, an alternative weekly, then, after moving to San Francisco, conceived of and produced a free entertainment newspaper that he delivered to area colleges in his Volkswagen van.
He moved to Asheville North Carolina in 1995 . Kreinberg died n a hospital in Asheville, , after a battle with diabetes and other illnesses, He is survived by his sister, Nancy; his son Oliver, a chef who most recently worked at 189 by Dominique Ansel in Los Angeles; and his first wife, Robin Baskin.
Career[]
Kreinberg's first job as a writer in Hollywood teamed up with Andrew Guerdat who would be his writing partner of 17 years was for the Jeffersons (1978) before he moved on to his favourite job writing questions for The Hollywood Squares, "I was left alone all day to research trivia," and for which he was nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards in 1980 and 1981. Those same years they worked on the writing staff for Mork & Mindy. They would also work on Archie Bunker's Place, It's a Living,
Kreinberg and Guerdat also wrote for and produced the ABC adaptation of Nine to Five (1986 - 88). Head of the Class (1989 - 1991), Saved by the Bell: The College Years (1993 - 1994) and Sister, Sister (1995 - 1966)
Kreinberg and Andy Guerdat, went on to create Herman's Head, the high-concept comedy from Witt/Thomas Productions that aired for three seasons, from September 1991 through April 1994.The name of the lead character was a homage to Kreinberg's father, who died the year the sitcom debuted.
