Ruby is the lead singer of the group Rick & Ruby, who Remo hires to sing at Da Vinci's and who Mork and Mindy end up championing, in Season 3's Mork and Mindy Meet Rick and Ruby. She is played by Monica Ganas.

About Ruby[]

Ruby is an incredibly scatty, attractive, voluptuous and gregarious brunette with a smoky powerful voice, who along with her equally dim boyfriend, Rick and their long suffering keyboardist Raoul form a group, who are hired by Remo when he decides to make live music an attraction at Da Vinci's. Ruby is also heavily pregnant with Rick's child. Something Remo did not know about.

Remo is intent on firing the group due to Ruby's pregnancy, which he feels will affect their performance, and because he believes pregnant women shouldn't work. After Mork discovers that he runs to Mindy, angry at Remo's actions and prevailing/tricking her into helping having, unbeknownst to her, brought Rick and Ruby home with him.

Cornered into letting them stay at the apartment, Mindy is sympathetic to their plight, and Ruby is both keen to hang out with her (exchanging beauty tips) and very grateful for her help. With Rick ineffectual, and Ruby not capable, Mindy goes to bat for her over Remo's actions, to the point where Mindy organizes a picket of Da Vinci's. A lot of which goes over Ruby's head.

Eventually, after Mork maneuverers her into it, Mindy makes a bet with Remo that if the band performs well, he will pay them. and if they don't she will. Which Ruby is very impressed with, especially given how much they earn...Mindy having never heard them sing...and the band's name being 'The Stupids'.

With Ruby and Rick arguing over the name of the baby being 'Trigger', they continue to appear to more than live up to their name, but as it transpires, the band is extremely talented. With Ruby giving a Tina Turner-esque delivery of 'River Deep Mountain High', finishing with an announcement that she's having a baby. Right on stage. Ruby having only begun counting the duration of the pregnancy from the date she was told she was pregnant.

Taken away, Ruby gives birth to a baby girl, leaving the group without a singer, until Mork steps in the following night to fill her cowboy hat.
