RIck is the lead guitarist of the group Rick & Ruby, who Remo hires to sing at Da Vinci's and who Mork and Mindy end up championing, in Season 3's Mork and Mindy Meet Rick and Ruby. He is played by Brian Seff.
About Rick[]
Rick is a tall dark haired, gormless dimwit, but top class guitarist and singer, who is also the father of his girlfriend Ruby's unborn child. Together with Ruby and their keyboardist Raoul they form 'The Stupids' who have travelled from Akron, Ohio to play a week at Da Vinci's, Remo wanting to bring live music into the restaurant. At least until he finds out how heavily pregnant Ruby is.
Rick is not exactly an active or involved partner, letting Ruby carry all the heavy luggage despite her advanced pregnancy, and not remotely interested in standing up for her and taking part in the pickets of Remo's on her behalf. Stating, to Mindy's outrage, that this was all happening because of Ruby so it was up to her to deal with it.
Once Mindy manages to get them on stage to perform at least, he and Ruby argue over the name for their child (she wants Trigger) and they put it to the audience to his displeasure, feeling that people from Colorado are virtual cowboys and will happily go along with the name. But he loses the choice, when Ruby beats him in arm wrestling.
When Ruby goes into labor and gives birth, Rick is back on stage the following night, adamant to Remo that *he* is the star turn of the band not Ruby. But when they start playing their set, Rick continues to sing backing vocals rather than Ruby's lead part, leading Remo to call a halt to the whole proceeding. At least until he gives in to Mork's insistence that he can fill in for her, something Rick finally goes along with.
