Opening only after 7.30 at night, Mother Bell's is an obvious pick up joint where customers sit at tables with phones, and put through calls to a switchboard to those at other tables that catch their eye. The place is centered by a grand piano with an extra large top to double as another seating area, and a pianist plays sessions, taking breaks throughout.
With Mork bored out of his skull with Mindy away for the weekend and just wanting some interaction with others, and Bickley drawn by the first drink being free, they arrive at the place not knowing really what it is. Approached by one of the Cocktail waitresses, she explains how things work, giving them their free drinks, which are too fruity for Bickley's taste, wanting a Bourbon and water, hold the water, before asks her about the phones at the table.
She tells them they are to call people, they can call anyone in the room, telling them it's a very 'friendly' place with a smirk. While Mork smiles to himself at his friendly choice, a wide eyed Bickley calls him a 'bubble head' having realized its a pick up joint, Mork not having a clue what that is, but when their phone goes off, assumes its 'pick up the phone!'. Picking up the phone, Mork tells the caller he's not sure he has 'one of those', but he'd have to be eight foot tall for what they're suggesting to be true. Grabbing the phone out of his hand Bickley hangs it up and tells him that this is a bar for swingers and that that tears it, he's going home.
Unfortunately for them. as with many pick up joints, it's a draw for con artists and crooks and Mork and Mr. Bickley fall prey to a couple of female con artists, who get them to take them home to Bickley's place where they are promptly robbed.
