Mindy's Bedroom

Mindy's bedroom on first view.

Despite being a major part of the apartment, the interior or Mindy's Bedroom is not actually seen until 42 episodes into Mork & Mindy, in the Season 2 episode A Mommy for Mindy. It does not however start making regular appearances until after the wedding and it becomes Mindy & Mork's bedroom.

Her bedroom, naturally like the rest of the apartment, is hard wood floored, with floor rugs placed around the room. Space wise it is almost the same size as the entire front room, especially when the bathroom is included. Decor wise, on it's first appearance. when Mork peeks in in A Mommy for Mindy, it is dominated by a large double bed, with an ornate white wicker headboard, and matching white wicker furniture including a vanity table and coffee table set.

The Case of the Mysterious Disappearing/Reappearing Hallway[]

Apartment - Facing Mindy's Bedroom

Entrance to the hallway to Mindy's Bedroom from the living room

Mindy's Bedroom is entered, at least apparently at this point, via a small hallway between the main room and her bedroom door that has a small press with a plant on it over which hangs first an autumnal scene and then an orange hued Taos Ski Valley poster, though much like the differing red couches, this switches back and forth because of differences between the shooting and airing orders. The autumnal scene popping up for the last time (in episode airing order at least) in Invasion of the Mork Snatchers.

Mindy's Bedroom - Mysterious Disappearing Hallway4-2

The view of the Hallway out from Mindy's bedroom (A Mommy for Mindy)

When Mork enters to visit her, as he opens her bedroom door looking out from Mindy's room there is a metallic Maple Leaf piece of wall art hanging on the wall beside the door from the living room into the hallway.

Mindy's Mysterious Disappearing Hallway - Limited Engagement

Last view out (Limited Engagement)

We finally get to see her bedroom again some 32 episodes later in Limited Engagement. And some things have changed. Unsurprisingly, over the course of a year or so, Mindy has redecorated and the wicker theme has gone in terms of furnishing, there is a lot more shelving with a lot of picture portraits, and books, and a Laura Ashley style floral theme to her bedding and curtains. The windows revealed have wooden blinds at the bottom, and she has a view of the aspen trees outside. A second apartment phone has also been installed by her bed, no doubt because of Mindy's job, slightly increasing salary (and for handiness for scenes). We also get the first glimpse of the Apartment's bathroom both Mindy & Mork have been using, through the open door. During the course of the episode, with Mork intent on trying to sway Mindy to accept his marriage proposal, and with 24 hours to do so, we again get to see the 'hallway' between the bedroom and living room from the the bedroom side, when Mork sneaks in, dressed in black at the dead of night to try and plant a sleep-suggestion tape to help convince her of his worthiness. The metal Maple leaf is gone and has been replaced by a floral painting and some more plants on a stand.

The One Sided Dimensional Hallway Vortex[]

Limited Engagement will be the last time viewers ever see the hallway from Mindy's bedroom side, as it will subsequently vanish into a one sided dimensional vortex, where it will, from then on, only ever be visible from the living room.

Mindy's Bedroom Decor 3

Post wedding decor (My Dad can't beat up anybody)

The decor for the rooms bed and curtains changes once again after Mork and Mindy's wedding and return from their honeymoon, as seen from Three the Hard Way, onwards, moving back towards a solid white. Presumably to make it less 'girly' with her husband now in residence with Mindy. Mindy has also set up a work area in the room with a desk her typewriter and a poster board.

But with the bedroom now one of the standard sets, when entering and leaving the bedroom in every scene where its featured from now on, the hallway remains as previously seen, with it's Taos Ski poster and plants. But it now only exists when someone is entering the bedroom *from* the living room. Meanwhile looking or walking *out* of the bedroom leads you *straight* into the living room past the wall with Mindy's framed record albums and cabinets with the plants beside the attic staircase, with absolutely no sign of the hallway, it's pictures, the Taos poster etc.

The Bathroom[]

The Bathroom

Hiding out from MILT in the Bathroom

The bathroom while oft used by both Mindy and Mork and guests, is only seen in Season 4, mostly in glimpses from the bedroom. Only one scene ever takes place in the bathroom, during Mork, Mindy, and Mearth Meet M.I.L.T., when Mindy leads the family away to try and find some place the super computer keeping them captive, can't over hear them. All of them ending up in the shower.
