Johnny Haymer (January 19, 1920 – November 18, 1989) was an American actor who appeared in Season 2's premier episode Mork in Wonderland, as the parallel world of Mirth's version of Danny Thomas, Danny St. Tommy.
Biography[]
Haymer was born Haymer Lionel Flieg in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Jewish immigrants. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1942, majoring in speech and specializing in dramatic impressions.
He died in Los Angeles, California, from cancer in 1989, at age 69.
Career[]
He got his first screen credit in a couple of episodes of the show Stanley (1957), appearing on the Ed Sullivan show (1959) before his TV career began in earnest, He appeared in a 1965 episode of The Cara Williams Show with Cara Williams going on to appear in shows like Honey West (1965), The Dick Van Dyke Show (1966), The Girl from U.N.C.L.E (1966) Tarzan (1967), Wild Wild West (1968), Gunsmoke (1968), Star Trek: TOS (1969), Get Smart (1969), The Doris Day Show (1969 - 70), Hogan's Heroes (1971), Love, American Style (1971), Mod Squad (1972), and Adam-12 (1974). In that same year he landed the role he is probably best remembered for as Staff Sergeant Zelmo Zale, a recurring character in the television series M*A*S*H.
Haymer additionally made brief television appearances in other popular series, including Eight is Enough (1977-79) He played Walter Pinkerton from 1982-83 on Madame's Place, a police officer on The Facts of Life episode "Under Pressure" in 1983, as well as roles in Cagney & Lacey (1984) a 10 episode stint on Days Of Our Lives (1984) and as a commissioner on The Golden Girls episode "It's a Miserable Life" in 1986.
He was an announcer for the Nipsey Russell-hosted game show Your Number's Up (1985); and in the mid-1980s he provided his voice for the characters Swindle, Vortex, Highbrow, and Caliburst in The Transformers (1985 - 86)

Mork & Mindy[]
Johnny appeared in the Season 2 opener Mork in Wonderland, alongside Jerry Vernon and Ronnie Schell as the manic parallel trio of Danny St. Tommy, Jerry Looney and Bob Faith, Mirth's equivalent of , Danny Thomas, Jerry Lewis and Bob Hopes, three dimwitted members of the guerilla outfit 'The Sillies', the revolutionary group run by Mindy's parallel 'Mandy' whose intent it its to overthrow the tyrannical Exidon, who has banned humor and taken control of the planet's power output.
Johnny carried a huge cigar, reminiscent of Danny Thomas, and would bless Mork and water and anything else, adding St. to his name and that of his kids, in a gentle parody of Danny Thomas over Catholicism and devotion to good works including the creation of the St. Jude Hospital for cancer research for kids.
