Jeff Altman (August 13, 1951) is a comedian, actor and producer, who appeared as wannabe reporter Clint Mullet, on the trail of strange sightings in the sky the night Mork landed, who feels Mindy is hiding something in Season 1's Mork Goes Public.

Biography[]

Altman was born in Syracuse, New York, to Genelle, a housewife, and Arthur, a sales manager and semipro magician. At Nottingham Senior High School in Syracuse, he played third singles on the school's tennis team and was on the wrestling team. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1974 with a degree in social sciences. showcasing his early show business flair to fellow members of the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity. Altman is a drummer, and a longtime fan of Buddy Rich, whom he once enticed to appear at Hopkins for one of his classes.

Altman married Leslie Ackerman (29 April 1979 - ?) with whom he had one child, a daughter, Faith. The marriage didn't last, and latterly he married Bonnie Goldstein (? - present)

Career[]

Jeff Altman began his career in 1974 at the Comedy Store. In 1976 came his first appearance on television, on Cos, a Bill Cosby children's variety show, followed by his first scripted show appearance in Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman..

A year later he joined Starland Vocal Band Show, where he was alongside celebrities such as Mark Russell and David Letterman, becoming very good friends with Letterman and in later years has appeared as a guest on Late Night with David Letterman and Late Show with David Letterman a combined 45 times.

In 1978 he appeared as sleazy record promoter Lennie Richfield in the movie American Hot Wax. Altman also produced had a starring role as the host of the short-lived NBC variety show Pink Lady and Jeff in 1980, which TV Guide has ranked No. 35 on its "50 Worst TV Shows of All Time" list. Altman appeared on the first episode of An Evening at the Improv.

Aside from Mork & Mindy Altman appeared in many sitcoms, including Maude, WKRP in Cincinnati, Archie Bunker's Place, Night Court and was a regular in the first season of Nurses (1992) before it was re-tooled for it's second season. He also had a recurring role as Hughie Hogg in The Dukes of Hazard.

His movie appearances include Send in the Clowns. Easy Money (1983). Highlander II: The Quickening (1991) Bee Movie (2007),

In the mid-1980s, he was the spokesman for Arby's restaurants, Tostitos corn chips, and Valvoline motor oil, and by 1990 he was a Budweiser spokesman.
