Jeanie DaVinci played by Gina Hecht, is a close friend of Mindy and sister to Remo appeared in Seasons 2 and 3 of Mork and Mindy, in a total of 27 episodes.
About Jeanie[]
Jeanie is a native of The Bronx, NY. who up stakes and moved to Boulder to open a New York Delicatessen with her brother Remo (played by Jay Thomas), in Boulder Colorado, while she attends Medical School there hoping to be a doctor one day. She and Remo share an apartment in Boulder and work together at the deli/restaurant when Jeanie isn't in school.
Jeanie it is apparent got the book smarts in the family. She and Mindy built a close friendship, and Jeanie regularly stops by to gossip.
Personality[]
Jeanie is intelligent, humorous, friendly, bright, but a little shy and insecure about herself. She has difficulties because of that in the romance department, revealing that once she continued a relationship with a married man, after discovering he was married, because of how he made her feel about herself (Reflections and Regrets).
Relationships[]
Family[]
Remo DaVinci - Jeanie's older brother, is not the most learned guy in the world or in comparison to his sister, and can be downright dim and traditionalist at times, much to her exasperation, and they often bicker as a result. But what Remo lacks in that regard he more than makes up for in being a loving and supportive brother, the two of them closest of siblings, working, living and talking through everything together. Remo is also protective, not generally approving of the men his sister dates (I Heard It Through the Morkvine, Reflections and Regrets)
Rosa DaVinci - Rosa comes to visit her children in Boulder, where she is worried (as it's a University Town) they will have fallen in with a beatnik/hippy crowd. Rosa is less than impressed and Jeanie mortified after encountering (what they think is Mork) hanging out with two hot girls (Mork's Vacation).
Leo Da Vinci - Leonardo(!) DaVinci the father of the clan is mentioned (Stark Raving Mork) but is revealed to have passed on, his widow Rosa, talking about what she would say to 'their father's' grave when she witnesses the antics of Mork (actually the alien Twelve) in Mork's Vacation.
Friends[]
Mindy McConnell - Jeanie is arguably Mindy's best female friend, the two of them hitting it off very quickly after the brother and sister move to Boulder, and Mork is already known to Jeanie on their first meeting (Stark Raving Mork) as a result. Both students (journalism and med) when they first meet, that, their intelligence, sense of humor and similar outlook and values makes them fast friends. While Jeanie is mindful of Mindy's relationship with Mork, while it is (to her mind) still platonic, she is also keen to see her get out there and meet someone (Mork, the Swinging Single), even if it ultimately backfires and it's Mindy left on the sidelines.
Mork - Jeanie is equal parts bemused and amused by Mork. However, at one point in their relationship, after Mork discovers that Jeanie is lonely and finding it hard to make friends, and meet a guy, she starts to see him in a different manner, when he makes an effort to fill that gap for her (Jeanie Loves Mork). Walking her home, spending time with her, making her laugh and going to dinner with her starts to deepen her feelings for him. Unfortunately he is only doing it because he thinks it will make Mindy happy, as Mindy discovered how her friend was feeling through her part time job as an agony aunt for the local paper. When Jeanie discovers the truth, she is deeply embarrassed and angry, though this fades as she realizes neither of them meant for it to happen, and in fact Mork helped to bring out the kind of person she wants to be going forward.
Nelson Flavor- Jeanie and Nelson get on very well, especially after Nelson gives up his political ambitions and gets back to acting something like a regular human being. Although she accuses Nelson of being a sexist (Alas, Poor Mork, We Knew Him Well) it is mostly done with humor, and in actuality, Jeanie is the one who starts to see a possible spark between him and Glenda Faye. She also likes him well enough to wish she could head off with him and Glenda on a trip to Yosemite, when it looks like Mindy & Mork can't make it.
Glenda Faye Comstock - After her return to Boulder, Glenda Faye and Jeanie start to hang out quite a lot both with and without Mindy, Glenda's affluence staggering the poor medical student (who jokily asks her to adopt her at one point, Mork and the Bum Rap), the blonde bombshell's enthusiasm for (to Jeanie's mind) trivial things, amusing her. But the two of them get on very well, bowling, running and playing racquet ball together along with taking part in various singles events at Glenda's complex, when Jeanie's time allows.
