About[]

The Jail is a typical County Jail style building within the township of Hidden Springs just outside Boulder where the Highway Construction going on was brought under scrutiny after Mindy learned that there were kickbacks being paid to undercut the safety measures required to build the Highway near Hidden Springs. With Mindy subpoenaed to testify on the case in Hidden Springs, and refusing to hand over the name of her source, she is sentenced to contempt of court and jailed until she is ready to come forward and name names.

Taken to the women's section of the jail, she is escorted into her cell by The Jail Matron, responsible for the general monitoring of and care for women within the justice system especially in mixed environment like a smallish County Jail. By employing a woman to fulfill these duties, many jails seek to ensure that female prisoners are treated fairly and reduce the likelihood of gender-related misconduct accusations. In Mindy's case however, the Matron is a former roller derby player, tall, extremely strong, with a sarcastic and dry sense of humor.

The cells in the Jail are shared, two prisoners to a cell, Mindy first sharing her cell with the sweet, kind and husband murdering Mrs. Louise Bailey who snapped alter not having a decent nights sleep for 31 years, thanks to her husband's snoring. About a week later a new cell mate is introduced, a fearsome and powerful looking black woman who gets to meet 'jailbird' Mindy. Mindy hauling off and snapping at her aggressively for sitting on her bunk, startling herself but actually managing to intimidate her cellmate.

The Cell in question backs onto an alleyway with a window that can be opened, but is barred. This allows Mork to come around and talk to Mindy after he leaves. It also allows him to cut a hole in the cell wall to try and convince Mindy to break out and escape with him.
