Ovits is an Orkan child who attends school on Ork with Mork & Mindy's child Mearth, and is played by Harvey Lembeck.

About Ovits[]

Ovits is an Orkan 'child', like all other Orkan children a product of the 'Test Tube', until the arrival of Mearth into Miss Geezba's class at the behest of Orson.

Ovits is salt and pepper haired, mustachioed, and middle aged in appearance, by Earth standards. And is much smaller than Mearth in terms of stature. But what he lacks in height he makes up for in attitude. Tough, bullish, he picks on the 'Earth Head', Mearth for his differences and haplessness when it comes to the ways of Ork. He also shows that Orkan's propensity for non-violence is definitely something learned and not ingrained when he sucker punches Mearth, leading both his watching parents to try and intervene on his behalf only to be given short shrift by Miss Geezba. Ovits also takes delight in setting Mearth up for a fall, encouraging him to believe things like sticking his hand up will stop him being called on in class. However, Mearth's talking about the advantages of his life on Earth...Parents who love and protect him, rewards (like a bull frog) for good behavior…start to sway Ovits and the rest of the class towards him (P.S. 2001).

As a result Ovits, along with Zelka are the two classmates Mearth invites along to a play date at the McConnell's home, both Zelka & Ovits arriving into the McConnell's bedroom while Mork & Mindy are still in bed. (Pajama Game II) Ovits decidedly unimpressed by Mindy's apartment. Matters degenerate when Ovits blows the head off Mearth's stuffed giraffe (the head somewhere over Denver) and the two 'boys' get into a fight that Mindy has to break up, before the H28 beam calls Ovits (but not Zelka) home. Ovits thanking 'Mr & Mrs McConnell' for having him, and complimenting them on their 'lovely home' (not particularly believably) before departing.
