Ed Peck (March 26, 1917 – September 12, 1992) was an American character who appeared as the leader of the Pure Power white supremacist group, Jim Blake in Season 2's The Night They Raided Mind-ski's.

Biography[]

Ed Peck was born March 26, 1917 in New York. On January 20, 1952, Peck married advertising copywriter Phyllis Houston in New York.

Peck died on September 12, 1992, in Los Angeles, California at the age of 75. His remains were donated to medical science.

Career[]

Ed Peck appeared in movies including films such as Heaven Can Wait, Bullitt, Cheech and Chong's Next Movie, and The Prisoner of Second Avenue. But he is perhaps better known for his work in television and in films from 1951 to 1983, specializing in playing either police officers or military officers, something he took with him to the stage, Peck played a captain in the Broadway production of No Time for Sergeants (1955).

In 1951, Peck replaced Eric Fleming in the title role of Major Dell Conway of the Flying Tigers on the DuMont Television Network. In 1969 Peck appeared as the Hotel Manager on the TV Series The Virginian in the episode titled "Journey to Scathelock." With a resonant and distinctive bass voice he was almost always recognizable and Peck was an announcer on The Jack Carson Show, a variety program on NBC-TV in 1953–1954.

Over the next three decades he guest-starred on dozens of television series including The Untouchables, Perry Mason, The Fugitive, Kentucky Jones, Get Smart, He played a rabbi in an episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show. and appeared on the original Star Trek ("Tomorrow Is Yesterday", 1967) as well as episodes of Cannon, Bonanza and That Girl . He also was a member of the cast of the summer 1972 television situation comedy The Super, portraying Officer Clark, a tenant in a New York City apartment building, and appeared in a couple of episodes of All In The Family (1972 - 74), and of Barney Miller as patrolman (later officer) Frank Slater (1976 - 78), He played the Governor's uber pompous director of security on multiple episodes over the first two seasons of Benson (1981 - 82)

He appeared in numerous Garry Marshall productions including multiple episodes of The Odd Couple (1972 - 75), Laverne & Shirley (1977) and perhaps most famously Happy Days in the recurring role as police officer Kirk from 1975 to 1983. When he left the series in 1983, he retired from acting.

Mork & Mindy[]

Ed Peck's appearance in his 4th Garry Marshall show, was something of a departure from his cop roles. Playing the uber racist businessman Jim Blake the leader of the white supremacist Pure Power group in Boulder, Colorado, into whose clutches Mork falls without realizing the damage the words/jokes they use about various groups and races does...until they turn their attention to Mindy, who reveals she has Polish blood.
