Mork & Mindy[]
Coming off of Police Woman, Ed Bernard appeared as the uniquely articulate Boulder police officer Officer Boyd, who, in pursuit of two fugitives from Boulder County Jail, catches one, Dittman, and leaves him handcuffed in the McConnell's Music Store, cuffed to the railings. Unfortunately for Officer Boyd, Mindy has momentarily left the store in Mork's hands in order to make a deposit in the Bank. And in the time that Officer Boyd is gone to pursue the second fugitive, Dittman convinces the gullible Mork to let him go on the promise he'll turn himself in after he visits his sick mother.
When Officer Boyd returns empty handed in the search for escapee number 2, he is at least consoled that he caught Dittman, only to find he's not there. The newly returned McConnell clan try to cover for Mork, but Mork confesses what he did and why. Officer Boyd 'deeply perturbed' and inclined to 'strike' Mork 'about the head and shoulders' arrests him and brings him in.
Later, to every one's surprise, Dittman does exactly what he promised Mork and turns himself in, precisely because Mork had faith in him. Officer Boyd, relatively impressed tells Mork that while he still broke the law, he will 'have a dialogue with the adjudicator' and feels that Mork will, be 'as the street people put it, extricated.'
