Bruce Johnson (July 7, 1939 - September 27, 2005) served as writer, story consultant, producer and supervisory producer over the entire run of Mork & Mindy
Biography[]
Bruce Johnson was born on July 7, 1939 in Piedmont, California, USA. He moved to Los Angeles when he transferred from City College of San Francisco to USC where he majored in drama. He married his wife Kathy in 1966, and together they had two sons: - Grant & Jon. After a successful career as a writer and producer. Bruce died young at the age of 66, at his Encino California home on September 27 2005 of heart failure, survived by his wife, sons and his grandchildren, Coleman, Peyton, and Taylor.
Career[]
Upon graduating USC, Bruce gained his first professional experience interning on "The Andy Griffith Show." and as a production assistant on "The Baileys of Balboa" (1964) and "The Patty Duke Show (1965) and got his first production credit on the TV Movie "Friends, Romans, Countrymen" (1966). In the same year he worked as an associate producer on the short-lived sitcom Hey Landlord where he first encountered Garry Marshall, one of it's creators.
In a career that spanned forty years, apart from Mork & Mindy, Bruce wrote for and produced shows such as "Gomer Pyle,USMC," "Good Morning World" "The Jim Nabors Hour", "Alice" (1976) and "Webster" (1984)

Mork & Mindy[]
Having met Garry Marshall while working "Hey Landlord" in 1966, Marshall was impressed enough with Bruce Johnson offer him a contract to come work for him at Paramount. Johnson was working for CBS on the show "Alice" at the time, but the show was suffering from behind the scenes issues, and so he took Marshall up on his offer, [1] and went to work for Marshall on Blanksy's Beauties before he brought him on Board as a producer on Mork & Mindy from its inception. Bruce served as Producer for the first 2 Seasons, before acting as Supervising Producer from Season 3 on.
During the first two seasons he also acted as Story Consultant on the show (46 episodes) while Mork & Mindy saw his greatest contribution as a writer (along with writing partner Dale McRaven) to any show he worked on, penning 12 episodes across all 4 seasons. Including:
