Biography[]

April Kelly was born on Long Island, NY, to military parents. She attended University of South Florida before moving to Los Angeles to be either a stand-up comic or a writer.

From 1987 to 1991 she stopped doing TV staff work taking on a four-year course at the oldest homeopathic medical school in England. After graduating from The College of Homeopathy in London, she returned to television, co-creating the series Boy Meets World which ran on ABC from 1993 to 2000.

In 2000 I moved to a farm in Tennessee, where I now write less soul-sucking material than TV scripts. I have two dogs who stay with me more from Stockholm syndrome than any genuine feeling of affection

Career[]

Outside of her work on Mork & Mindy. She was a producer on Love, Sidney9 to 5, and Teachers Only. She wrote the TV movies I Still Dream of JeannieHow to Murder a Millionaire and Your Mother Wears Combat Boots (under pseudonym Susan Hunter).

She also co-created Boy Meets WorldGirl Meets World with Michael Jacobs [2] and the co-executive producer for the first season. She also wrote for the TV series The Pursuit of Happiness and Becker. She was the supervising producer on Where I Live and Webster. [1]

She is also the author of Winged. a finalist for a Shamus Award, and Winged won first place for general fiction in Kindle’s 2014 International Book Contest. She is also the author of Murder in One Take which she co-wrote with Marsha Lyons. Her short fiction has appeared in numerous literary journals as well as being featured on the podcast Word Crimes and in the Mark Twain House online magazine. [2]

Since writing paid actual money while stand-up did not, April signed onto the original writing staff of Mork and Mindy the lone female on the original staff [3] Writer of 15 of the initial 52 episodes and contributory writer to 1, one of which was a finalist for the Humanitas Prize, she also acted as Executive Script Consultant on 25 episodes and Story Editor on 20 through Seasons 1-3 of the show. April also acted as story editor for the first Season of the show.
