Annie Wanker is the (unfortunate) wife of Arnold Wanker the greedy, nasty owner of the premises that Fred McConnell rents to use as the Music Store, and who appears in Season 1's To Tell the Truth, she is played by Fay DeWitt.
About Annie[]
Annie is the wife and, temporarily at least, the widow of Arnold Wanker who is sitting in the car outside as Arnold, in the midst of warning Fred & Mindy that he is intent on driving them out of the store, drops dead in the store.
Despite his treating her appallingly, yelling at her and calling her names from inside the store, in the wake of his 'death', as is so often the case, things change. Annie brought into the store after they break the news, the McConnell's trying to comfort her as she weeps over him, a guilt ridden Mindy listening as she bemoans her husband's last words to her were 'Wait here!'
The McConnell's though they all despised Arnold, in order to spare Annie's feelings start to put major spins on the tales they themselves had been telling of what a devious manipulative money grasping kid/person Arnold had been, Converting him from a parsimonious immoral nasty old Scrooge, to a a veritable Angel of a man. Literally, Cora observes, which sets Annie off on another crying Jag. Quickly trying to assure her that her grandmother simply meant that someone as good, and loved as Arnold was must surely have found a heavenly place for himself. When Annie thanks her and asserts Mindy really cared about him, Mindy sidesteps again quickly saying that she her father and grandmother all felt exactly the same about him. Fred observes to Mork its hard to believe that a few minutes ago Arnold was there yelling at them, and now he's back there, quiet as a mouse.
All of this blatant lying to Annie, who, as Cora says is a perfectly nice woman whose only mistake was her choice of husband, results in Mork getting the wrong idea about Arnold. And, as luck would have it, his restoration to life, when Mork thinking he's doing everyone a favor restoring this Paragon, finds the perfect conditions to resurrect him, to the shock of Fred & Mindy. How Annie reacts to her re-animated husband is never seen, Cora having taken her home. Either way however, after his subsequent fall, she has at least 10 weeks of nursing ahead of her.
