Andrew Guerdat is an American film and television writer-producer, who with then writing partner Steve Kreinberg collaborated on three episodes of Mork & Mindy over Season 2 and 3.

Biography[]

Guerdat always wanted to be a writer, or more accurately, a storyteller. "My first love was prose fiction, but since my second love was not eating out of dumpsters, I decided to come to L.A. and try my hand at screen and TV writing." Moving to L.A. from Birmingham, Alabama in 1976, he broke in by following what passed for a system in show biz: taking classes (at the now-defunct Sherwood Oaks Experimental College), writing specs, sending them out en masse to any and all agents who would read them or pretend to, and then taking the better of the two agencies who responded positively. That took about a year. [1]

After another six months, he got his first paid assignment, an episode The Jeffersons (1978) and has been a working writer ever since.

He is proud to say he had absolutely no connections when he moved to Hollywood. Although he highly recommends nepotism, coattail-riding and sucking up as alternate methods of breaking in.[1]

Career[]

His work on the Jeffersons was his first collaboration with Steve Kreinberg, with whom he would go on to write with over the next 17 years

Guerdat alongside Kreinberg also wrote for and produced the ABC adaptation of Nine to Five (1986 - 88). Head of the Class (1989 - 1991), Saved by the Bell: The College Years (1993 - 1994) and Sister, Sister (1995 - 1966)

Kreinberg and Andy Guerdat, went on to create Herman's Head, the high-concept comedy from Witt/Thomas Productions that aired for three seasons, from September 1991 through April 1994.

He also wrote separately for Empty Nest (1994 - 1995) and on former Mork & Mindy staff writer April Kelly's show Boy Meets World (1997)

His TV films include Fourth Story (1991) and Dance ‘Til Dawn (1988).

His play, Red Remembers,, premiered at the Berkshire Theater Festival.

He has written for many animated series, for Disney Junior and Nickelodeon. including the new “George Of The Jungle,” “Higglytown Heroes,” “Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5,” “Sheriff Callie’s Wild West,” “Wild Grinders”, Paw Patrol (2016 - 2020), Fancy Nancy (2018 - 2021) [2]

His play “Red Remembers” starring David Garrison and directed by John Rando, premiered at the Berkshire Theater Festival.

As a private script consultant, his many clients have included TRC Media and the Korean Film Council. He has taught screen and television writing at Pepperdine University and UCLA Extension.
